Beyond Fair Trade Fortnight

It doesn’t stop with The Big Swap and Fair Trade Fortnight. Keep up the momentum and spread your enthusiasm for Fair Trade by telling your friends, colleagues and wider communities all about it.  Keep the creative juices flowing – there’s a lot you can do whether it’s just you, or you’re part of a group.

First off, get clued-up – there’s a lot of information and resources available online. There’s a variety of ways to get involved. As individuals we can raise the issues of trade injustice and encourage others to swap to Certified Fairtrade products. At home swap your hot drinks and snacks to Fairtrade. Ask for a Fairtrade coffee in your local café – if they don’t sell it talk to them about offering a Fairtrade Certified option. Give a gift with extra value by choosing an ethically traded present, and why not roll your sleeves up and volunteer for Fair trade.

At work, think about becoming a Fair Trade Workplace. In school resources are available for teaching and learning about Fair Trade. Get active in your university and faith group and start a dialogue about trade injustice. It’s even possible to start the place where you live on the path to becoming a Fair Trade town or city – how great would that be!
